Rugged Rock is a mockumentary based around a touring theatre company. The resemblance to real-life touring companies of its type is uncanny and the exploits of the management and the actors are, quite frankly, hilarious.
The series starts out with Artistic Director, Zara (Francesca Marie) and Tour Manager, Dorothy (Katy Poulter) introducing us to the Rugged Rock Theatre Company and then running a casting session for their forthcoming tour of "Charlton's Choice". As the plot develops and rehearsals get underway, the humour intensifies and it is difficult not to watch the later episodes without having to pause for breath between belly laughs. Watch out especially for the sheer gem of a relationship between Zara and Dorothy — brilliant in its approach and its poignacy.
Originally conceived as a web series, the episodes published so far have produced such positive feedback that the production team are exploring the possiblity of persuading a TV company to take it up.
