Kensington Gore

Genre:   Horror / Comedy

Kensington Gore is a legend and I never say that lightly. After a hugely successful career as a film director, he has now turned his hand to writing. But, not content with publishing his own work, he also gives a helping hand and tons of encouragement to fledgling writers like myself. He is tireless in his advocacy and his inspiration and he provided me with just the stimulus I needed to get myself started. He has my undying gratitude and my eternal love and respect.  What follows is Mr. Gore's biography in his own inimitable words.
I'm Kensington Gore, the seventy-seven year old infamous Hammered Horror film director. Legend has it, fake theatre and movie blood was named after my good self.

I'm one of Horror's most shocking founding fathers. I've courted controversy with some of my banned classics The Mummy's Ring, Kiss of the Spider Monkey and that never to be forgotten erm, what was it called again, oh yes Frankenstein's Brain.

After a twenty year break, where reports of my death were somewhat exaggerated, I'm back writing. Health allowing, I'll also be back directing again soon, when my last great film Werewolves of London finally starts filming.

I've been writing all my life. Well except for the time I was a baby and a toddler of course, when I couldn't hold a pen.

Although I do have thousands of stories written in crayon that might very well scare the pants off of many. I'm sure the very first word I wrote was, "Blood!" which kind of set the tone.

I'm currently working on my life story "The Whole Gorey Storey!"

I haven't finished living my life yet though, so it might have to be published posthumously.

It will be a warts and all exposé of my life in film. Well maybe without the problem of the warts, nobody wants to read about the warts, the fact they were in a very intimate place, or that it meant that I couldn't sit down for over three bloody months.

But it's not all about me. The reason I accepted your kind invitation to bore you rigid my dear Hache, is that I like you, well I do like you, but also I, like you, I like to help up and coming writers.

In the literary world I am quite new but that doesn't bloody stop me. I'll shake them up a bit, helping and taking as many of my fellow good writers with me. Age, race and sex make no difference to me.

I like to help new writers and pay it forward so to speak. Mind you, no one helped me in my day.

It was pull the ladder up and fend for yourself. Which made it very hard as I was working as a window cleaner at the time.

At my age, I tend to look back a bit but I also like to look forward at the same time, which as you can imagine this gives me a right bloody pain in the neck.

My diaries were once described as a mix between Anne Frank, Adolf Hitler and Adrian Mole!

I like to think of myself as more Chaucer or Oscar Wilde, but I leave it to others to declare my brilliance.

I hope to have my latest diary finished soon. By the end of the year funnily enough, in fact I can give you a world exclusive and can tell you the exact date will be December the 31st, it's a Tuesday. Mind you I'll probably be in no fit state come New Year's Eve or New Year's Day for that matter to write a bloody word. So this time I'm not planning to rush it out. At my age, it's like great sex, good things have to come to those who wait. Besides it takes nearly six months for my editor and lawyers to take all the swearing and libel comments out.

Anyone that's followed me on my @Kensington_Gore Twitter account will know that I like making people laugh.

So much so I've even written a joke book that will be out before Christmas called "Kensington Gore's Ladies & Gents Joke Book".

It's all about the battle of the sexes. The funny things that men think about women and vice versa. It might cause laughter, and some good humdinger arguments in households over the festive season. That's my idea of a good stocking filler.

I like helping and working with new writers, that is the whole point of my Kensington Gore Twisted Tales, series of shorts such as Robot Love, Slaying The Dragon and Seasoning of The Witch. http://amzn.to/1cgj7dK

I plan to do more of them with more writers and put them into short story collections, helping me and fellow writers.

They are great fab stories, kind of like Roald Dahl's Tales of The Unexpected that used to be a popular British TV Show that spun off from Dahl's original stories. I'm hoping to one day reproduce them on TV myself, if I can still be around to introduce them that would be special. Even if they have to poke me with a hot poker to get a performance out of me. That's what my wife Marge does of a night time.

I have to mention the little woman, that truth be told isn't that little, she's supported me through thick and thin. The thicker my waist line, the thinner my hair has got with age and worry.

She, is a writer herself, and has just come into print and she writes a nice line in erotica. It's very good if a bit hot and steamy. I recently helped her publish a Halloween short erotic story called When's A Witch Not A Witch http://amzn.to/IbvG0T

She's writing under the name M.G DuBois and should have her first novel, Bound released early 2014. She's been a bit tied up with that one.

I like to do my bit for charity, although I don't like to go on about it unlike some. I recently published a collection of short stories by up and coming writers called Kensington Gore's Twisted Tails. Where all the writers kindly donating their royalties to animal charity the RSPCA and it is available here. http://amzn.to/1g8bsR6

Do get a copy as it helps animals and writers, though I'm not sure which ones need it the most.

Looking more into the future, I'm looking back and writing novel versions of my banned films. The Mummy's Ring being the first, (see cover, below, designed by Joseph Talbot) and they will be the first books, to my knowledge, that will have a directors commentary, like you normally get on DVD or those BLU-Ray things. Clever what they can do with these kindle things. these days, will be making you a nice cup of tea next!

Writers need to move on and embrace new things, I like to embrace something new every month or so but don't tell my wife.

The future looks scary, but exciting just how I like it. So keep a bit of Gore in your life and follow my goings on at my website http://kensingtongore.com/

There are film reviews, fun interviews, exclusive pictures, poetry and all manner of things. Schedule allowing I'm hoping in 2014 to introduce an exciting short story and possibly poetry competition so watch that space.

I'm writing novellas with up and coming writers, like K.A. Hambly and Kim Culpepper, very excited about them projects.

I'm doing lots of things with my regular writing partner, the simply fabulous, Leesa Wallace. Leesa is like the warped scary granddaughter I always wanted, she's so talented. In fact all my writing partners and friends are like family to me. Once you've been touched by Gore, you stay touched for life.

So much so, I'm thinking of using my experience, knowledge and connections to start my very own publishing company. But that is in the very early stages and I can't say too much about that now.

But I will continue to keep banging away on my typewriter, or if I get too weak for that, I'll get a sexy young secretary and get her to bang away for me. There are so many stories in me and so little time. It's a good job I plan to live forever.

People often ask me the secret of living a long life, I say it's simple, keep breathing in and out a lot.

Oh, and do something scary each and every day and when you are a writer that is limited only by your own imagination and I bloody love it.
