I saw the film and I have to say the cast are really a talented bunch of people though I'm not sure why the lead actor, Danny Lopez, is just walking through his part. The children and the actress NeTia, playing his wife, were wonderful. They had me convinced and on the edge of my seat but Mr Lopez could have expressed a little more emotion when appropriate.
I also wish that costuming was in the budget as his wardrobe appeared to be right out of a Johnny Depp photo shoot.
As for the film itself, I think the premise and the screenplay are magnificent in their entirety and would hope to see Peters and Dunn come together on a future project some day with a more convincing leading man. Marty Peters and Eric Dunn are talented men and deserve to be showcased as such in the future.

Well, I must say this is a spot on review.
I had looked forward to this movie for months: Mr. Lopez has boasted for a while about how good the movie is but he has bragged even more about how good HE is.
Overall it is a fairly good movie. I went to the event last night and think Mr. Dunn did a great job with the film and all the kids were superb.
However I too was disappointed with Mr. Lopez. He was upstaged by the Kirkbride itself I'm afraid. The building is one of the most impressive places in person; no amount of film will ever do it justice though but the aerial shots just don't do it justice. Furthermore, I wish Mr. Lopez had put as much effort into his acting skills as he does all the egotistical posts he makes on Facebook. Perhaps then he would be as good as he claims he is.
I have seen him in other stuff and he's just not that impressive. I feel you were a bit too generous and kind with your review of his performance, when you mentioned that you only saw a rough preview cut and not a cleaned up version. I'm sorry to tell you his acting truly is horrible and since I have met him many times, I can tell you he's also just being his usual self and he cannot break character no matter where he goes. And yes, he goes to the grocery store looking just like he does in the movie! He just does not emote well. So you were spot on with the review.
All in all though the movie did raise some money for the college in Fergus Falls, and I only went to see the Kirkbride and support the kids.

I have not seen the film, only the trailers but, having first hand knowledge of Danny Lopez I can tell you he could not act his way out of a lunch sack. From the few times I have met him and/or seen him in his hometown in Montana, even out in public, such as at the Walmart, he is dressed like that Johnny Depp actor he likes to portray. I'm not sure why he is dressed like Johnny Depp in a film where his character has nothing to do with Johnny Depp?? I was highly disappointed that he could not drop one character to be another, but Okay..I think the rest of the cast appears to be great and would love to see the entire film.
